  5. What is foundation makeup and how to accomplish a flawless foundation?

Are you still confused about what is foundation makeup and how to accomplish a flawless and perfect foundation makeup? What we will show you below is a complete set of steps for applying makeup, but it doesn’t mean that everyone needs to do all the steps without fail. You can do these steps selectively according to your actual situation.

Step 1: Moisturize your skin

This is a step that all people need to do. The moisturizing step here is in service of the foundation. It is recommended not to choose a cream that is too heavy to avoid subsequent makeup rubbing.

If you have a dry skin, you can use a cotton pad dipped in lotion to evenly apply the skin once before applying the foundation makeup for a more comfortable look. If you have oily skin a good moisturizer with toner is enough.

Step 2: Apply sunscreen products

This is the step that everyone must do and the last step of the whole skin care process.

We would recommend choosing sunscreen products that are colorless or have a natural color after film formation and do not interfere with the subsequent foundation. This step can be done selectively.

Step 3: Apply makeup primer

If it is for the base makeup to be more flattering, try to choose a colorless and transparent makeup prep. If you have a large area of yellowing or redness in your skin tone, you can choose a toning makeup prep.

For example, if you want to brighten up the apple part of your skin, you can use a purple makeup primer. When using a toner, it is not recommended to apply it all over the face, but just apply it where needed.

Step 4: Skin Concealer

This step is for more serious local pigmentation, and blemish problems, if there are no such problems you can choose to skip it. The main areas that need toning concealer are red pimples, lime green dark circles under the eyes, coffee pigmentation, etc.

First, put an orange concealer on the dark eye circle locations.

Use green concealer on reddish areas, reddish pimples, etc. Some dull brown spot areas with purple concealer. For small areas like pimples, we can use a concealer brush to push the edges evenly and try not to touch the center.

For dark circles, use a press-and-push method, from the inner corner of the eye towards the eye, and then gently push it away with your hand, not touching the lower eyelid here.

Step 5: Apply foundation

What is foundation makeup? After choosing your makeup application tool, tap and push it along the lines of your skin. Never apply it randomly without any rules, so that the effect of the makeup will come out patchy and uneven.

The recommended makeup application technique is to start with the T-zone and then move on to the U-zone.

The first tool is the beauty sponge. The first tool is to pour out the right amount of foundation and dab it with the sponge. The technique is to press it. The first step is to press from the T-zone, taking care not to push away the area that has just been concealed.

The U-zone part is tapped from the edge of the face to the center, because the first press after the beauty sponge is thickest.

The second way to apply foundation is with a makeup brush.

First, pour out an appropriate amount of foundation on the back of your hand and dab it on with a makeup brush. For the forehead area, you need to brush quickly and flatly along the lines of the skin, and then quickly from the center outwards. For the nose, spread the foundation from the bridge of the nose to the tip of the nose and the wings of the nose.

Step 6: Second Concealer

For blemishes that are still not covered after the first concealer and foundation application, you will need a second concealer with a skin tone concealer.

For example, if you have small pimples or dull colored pimple marks on your skin, you can use a concealer for a final coverage. Apply makeup with the cover mark method, do not push it back and forth, otherwise it will ruin the original base makeup.

The final step: setting the makeup

Next, we will show you how to set your makeup with a loose powder brush, a powder puff, and a setting spray.

Dip the brush into the powder and shake off the remaining powder. Pat and swipe the brush over the entire face. Apply more to areas that are oily and less to areas that are less oily.

Dip the puff into the powder and rub it in with your hands. Press gently onto the makeup surface, do not push.

The setting spray needs to be sprayed 30~40cm away from the face, and the face should be slightly rotated while spraying to let the spray fall evenly on the face. Large drops of liquid can be absorbed with a tissue, the rest of the water can be allowed to dry naturally.

Note: Tips for applying makeup

1. Try to control the amount of foundation by taking it from the back of your hand

Novices are prone to applying foundation without having time to smooth it out, and some of it is already dry. The safer way is to squeeze out a portion of it on the back of your hand first and put it on your face a few times.

2. Apply makeup in a certain direction

It is best to get into the good habit of putting on the foundation in order, for example, first T-zone and then U-zone. Do not be disorganized on the foundation, resulting in uneven makeup.

3. The thickness of foundation is not uniform for the whole face

The thickness of the foundation is not the thicker the better, nor is it evenly distributed across the face, so that the makeup effect is rigid. Overall, the thickness of the foundation is thinner from the center to all around.

Summary

What is foundation makeup? Among the complete steps, moisturizing and toning, sunscreen, primer, and setting are necessary steps, while pre-makeup, skin concealer and secondary concealer can be considered according to your situation. If your skin has no blemishes and is in good condition, these three steps can be optionally skipped.
